I am all about making this Gingerbread Donuts Recipe for Christmas breakfast. All that soft cake donut and sweet glaze–I love it.

But back to these amazing Gingerbread Donuts and their sweet, sweet glaze. I can’t wait to make these again Christmas morning.

They’re just so quick and easy–and they bake for just long enough for me to enjoy a cup of coffee, then they’re ready to serve. What could be more perfect?!

I mean, the kids can just be getting up to the tasty smells of donuts baking and there I can be, ready for the day. It’s going to be one magical morning. Or afternoon–I might have to make these for a snack later on, if they go straight to the presents…oh, goodness.

How to Make Gingerbread Donuts

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and lightly grease two mini donut pans with cooking spray. Or preheat your mini-donut maker. Whichever.

Combine flour, cinnamon, ginger, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside this flour mixture.

In a second mixing bowl, combine sour cream, melted butter, milk, brown sugar, molasses, and egg.

Whisk together wet ingredients and dry ingredients.

Place the batter into your donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.

Bake for 10 to 12 minutes.

Cool completely on a wire rack.

Make the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until the mixture is smooth.

Dip each donut about halfway into the glaze, then return to the wire rack to harden while you immediately top with red and green sprinkles.
