Recipe for The BFGs Frobscottle drink - the-gingerbread-house.co.uk (1)

I think it’s fair to say my 6 year old is enjoying reading The BFG. We’ve been reading a couple of chapters every night and we both look forward to it. Last week we made Grobswitchy cake which was delicious. Today we made the drink Frobscottle, also from The BFG, the only drink available in Giant Country.

“It’s glummy!’ he cried ‘I love it!'”

We used lemonade, cream soda, drinking yoghurt, lime juice, kiwis and a fizzy Vitamin C tablet. So if you read that list of ingredients you would probably think the Frobscottle wasn’t going to taste good, but it really did!

First we peeled the kiwi fruit then liquidized them in our blender. We sieved what was left to remove the seeds and placed the juice in a jug, along with our freshly squeezed lime juice.

So far, so good.

We measured the lemonade, cream soda and drinking yoghurt and added them to the jug. The mixture was beginning to froth and bubble by this point and smelled delicious. Finally we added the effervescent tablet which made it fizz even more!

I poured it into a jar with a straw and both children loved it. I tried it too and despite appearances it did taste good. My 6 year old has demanded we make this again soon. Just look out for the Whizzpops!

What a lovely idea, making recipes to resemble dishes from childrens’ books! This one is very clever as it’s packed full of goodness too! It can be difficult to get children to eat healthy foods, but not when they think they’re eating something from their favourite book 🙂

I make a smoothie or two everyday! Avo, spinach, banana, ginger, tomato, apple, pepper… just some of the stuff I put in it. 🙂
