Does your personnel winch provide safety to the wearer or is it just a winch that could tear you limb from limb if you became entangled? Yes, the winch operator should be able to see you but seeing many set ups, is that always the case?A majority of winches on the market are simply down rated goods winches, that may sound all well and good but it means they have no safety clutch to prevent injury to the user if they become entangled. If you're pulling a tree stump out using your 4 x 4 that's great, but not if you're extracting a person. At Ash Safety we only offer for hire personnel riding winches that provide a slipping clutch to ensure user safety. We can and do sell winches that don't offer this but make sure our client is fully aware of there limitations. Do you know if what you are using has this or not, do you even get advised by your supplier? Our #apltripod shown also allows for the attachment of 6 people, many attachment devices are only rated for 1 or 2 persons at best.Ash Safety, because every life matters.https://lnkd.in/eWBiGuGXhttps://lnkd.in/eHa3t6dR#ashsafety #ashireland #apltripod #bsif #bsifrsss #entrantsafety #manholeentry #personnelridingwinch #rescue #rescuetraining #rescuewinch #siloentry #teamsafety #training

A common question is ‘What is the difference between PUWER & LOLER?’. Both sets of regulations are often referred to together because they do have some overlap. 🔍Here's a basic summary, in short:𝐋𝐎𝐋𝐄𝐑: However, it is important to recognise that LOLER only applies to lifting equipment (e.g. a hoist, winch, crane and the lifting elements of other work equipment and accessories such as ropes, chains, webbing and shackles). In addition, LOLER includes within it's scope the ropes and related components used for safe access working systems.𝐏𝐔𝐖𝐄𝐑: In comparison, PUWER applies to all equipment but there is a decision to be made during the planning phase about whether to apply (or disapply) another Regulation on the basis that all significant risks are covered by other implementations. To learn more, visit: www.sis-ltd.org.uk

I got demoted… not actually thank God. Running the sheep’s foot did get me thinking though, for those of us who have spent any kind of time in the dirt world running the sheep’s can be a demotion or for new operators it can be their first opportunity to actually run a piece of equipment. Either way i don’t think many folks understand just how crucial this part of building a pad actually is. If you don’t have compaction then you literally have no foundation. But are we teaching the folks we have running the compactor that? Or is this just bottom rung operator duties that someone has to do? I think with anything, what you’re doing, and how it needs to be done is one thing but are we also teaching folks perspective? For instance if you put a 19 year old whose hungry on it just to have warm body going back and forth then you have a very low likelihood of getting proper compaction, but if you instill a sense of pride in the new operator and try to get them to understand that being a roller man is actually a pretty crucial part of the process maybe he’ll take his time and moreover take some pride in what he’s doing. I don’t know I’m just ranting but i do think there is something to be said about perspective.

It’s important to remember that there can be an adjustment period whenever you bring in a new commercial cleaning company. Providing feedback about areas that weren’t cleaned to your satisfaction can help to ensure that it’s taken care of correctly in the future.
