Hallux rigidus: arthrosis in the metatarsophalangeal joint
Hallux means ‘big toe’. Joint wear – i.e. arthrosis – in the metatarsophalangeal joint of the big toe is referred to as hallux rigidus, or ‘stiff big toe’.
